Media outlets in China have been given early access to Azur Promilia, an upcoming creature-collecting RPG developed by Manjuu. The previews offer fresh glimpses into the anime gacha game, such as detailed character animations, fresh combat sequences, and additional content. Moreover, it has been confirmed that the game will incorporate a ‘fast-forward’ option, allowing players to speed up dialogue and progress through the game at a quicker pace.
Generally, the initial impressions suggest an optimistic outlook, filled with appreciation for the game’s artistic elements such as its dynamic animation style, exceptional character designs, and intriguing creature designs.
Characters appear remarkably expressive in videos found on platforms such as CGames, with detailed facial expressions, dynamic camera angles, and even subtle touches like the way light dances across their eyes. Indeed, there’s a fair share of movement – much as one would anticipate from the creators behind Azur Lane.
The opinions seem to be divided concerning the game’s battle system. It appears that the game hasn’t quite settled on its identity yet: Whether it aims to offer complex, tactical battles or simpler, easier-to-grasp combat. At this point, it seems a bit disjointed and skewing towards the latter. However, the combat animations and the inclusion of Kibo (creatures you can capture) are praised for their quality.
In the previews, there seems to be less focus on the intricacies of base construction, possibly because it’s not as significant an aspect during the initial stages of gameplay. However, aside from aiding in production and defense, the Kibo characters are also involved in exploration by resolving elemental riddles, which are said to be relatively simple. Additionally, players will have the opportunity to travel on and even fly some Kibo creatures.
It appears that all Kibo undergo evolutions, with the most advanced levels found roaming freely as challenging boss opponents in the open world.
Additionally, a Player versus Player (PvP) game mode is included where users can make their Kibos engage in combat with one another. It seems that this involves constructing decks, as cards appear to play a significant role in the user interface.
This year, we’ll learn more details about Azur Promilia since Manjuu is scheduled to appear at the Tokyo Game Show 2025. Currently, the game is planned for PC, PS5, iOS, and Android platforms, though a specific launch date hasn’t been set as of now.
