If you’re a gamer seeking a new immersive RPG fantasy realm, get ready for the upcoming game, “Avowed”. Its pedigree comes from the studio behind hits like “Fallout: New Vegas” and “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic”, which naturally stirs excitement.
Developer Obsidian Entertainment, in partnership with Microsoft, has officially revealed the game’s complete file size and storage demands. Despite the relatively small game size, its success hinges on three key elements that could potentially make it a worthy competitor to ‘The Elder Scrolls’.
Avowed‘s small game size shouldn’t be an issue
As Avowed’s pre-order early access phase approaches, it’s been announced that players can now preload the game from Obsidian Entertainment. The downloads reveal that the RPG will take up approximately 74.77 GB of space upon its launch.
Players with an active Game Pass subscription or those who have pre-ordered the game at other digital platforms can now initiate the download of the game files. These files will become accessible when it’s time for you to start playing.
Avowed game size is about 74 GB.
For comparison: The Outer Worlds is 54 GB, Grounded is 12 GB.

To put it simply, for today’s games like “Blade Myth: Wukong” and “Call of Duty Black Ops 6”, 74GB seems relatively small. These games often need over 100 GB of space, and when you consider extra Downloadable Content (DLC), the storage requirement can grow even larger.
Even though this game has a compact storage footprint, it doesn’t mean it will be weak if it excels at a few key areas. One such area is effective asset management. This efficiency might be achieved by optimizing textures, models, and animations to avoid unnecessary expansion, which is common in many modern games nowadays.
As an avid gamer, I’m always mindful of the storage space required by today’s games, often inflated due to pre-rendered cutscenes. If Obsidian opted for in-game rendering in their upcoming game, Avowed, it would not only make for a more immersive storytelling experience but also save precious storage space on my gaming device.
To conclude, “Avowed” features a distinctive art style that differs from games like “Red Dead Redemption 2” and “Forbidden West,” as it does not employ ultra high-definition textures. Although ultra-high definition graphics are visually appealing, they can expand file sizes beyond 150 GB.
Avowed won’t have one crucial feature on launch
The long-awaited launch of Obsidian’s “Avowed” is nearly here, arriving on February 18th. Based on what we’ve glimpsed in trailers so far, it appears that the game will be an exhilarating continuation of the “Pillars of Eternity” series.
It appears that upon release, the game Avowed may lack a popular industry standard feature – New Game Plus. In an interview with MinnMax, Obsidian Entertainment disclosed this omission, also stating that they currently have no intentions of incorporating this mode into the game.
It’s unfortunate that the popular RPG feature, New Game Plus, is absent from Obsidian’s title. The absence of this could potentially impact the replay value of Avowed, as it’s intended to offer a satisfying experience over several playthroughs.
It turns out that not having New Game Plus is more limiting than it first appears. Fingers crossed that Obsidian will reevaluate their choice and introduce this feature in future updates.
