Avowed Spring Update Released, Roadmap Revealed

Summary

  • Avowed’s latest update makes improvements to the in-game map, the party camp, and accessibility.
  • The next update drops this summer, giving us new combat abilities, weapons, and more.
  • New game plus and the ability to customise your character anywhere are coming in a winter update.

Yesterday, Avowed received an update that introduced some enhancements and tweaks. Included in this update is a “Spider-Free Mode” specifically designed for those who fear spiders, which eliminates any creatures resembling spiders from the game. But that’s not all – Obsidian has hinted at numerous other features set to be added to Avowed throughout the year.

In simpler terms, the upcoming update brings exciting additions such as a photo mode, new game plus, and the long-awaited option to customize your character’s appearance after starting the game. The winter update will feature these three elements initially, with even more enhancements expected in a summer update prior to that.

Avowed Has A Roadmap, Promising New Game Plus And Character Customisation

In a recent blog post, Obsidian offers a glimpse into some upcoming content and enhancements for Avowed, set to arrive soon. Our aim is to provide you with a more vivid understanding of our current projects and future offerings.

As a fervent supporter, I’m thrilled to share that this summer, we’ll welcome an exciting update brimming with fresh possibilities! This includes enhanced skills for our heroes and companions, a variety of new weapons, as well as upgrades to cooking and crafting. Additionally, custom map markers are on the way!

However, I must admit that I, along with many others, had hoped that we’d get some larger features like New Game Plus mode and character customization from the very beginning. Unfortunately, it seems we’ll have to wait until winter for those delightful additions.

During the game, you’ll have an opportunity to personalize your character further, complete with Godlike attributes that might not have appealed to you initially. Additionally, there will be a wider variety of pre-set options for you to experiment with.

Although it might be annoying to have a delay in receiving some eagerly anticipated new features, at least this indicates that Obsidian is dedicated to considering suggestions from their fanbase. As of now, there are no signs pointing towards the expansions some had hoped for when Obsidian announced a roadmap; however, since The Outer Worlds has received DLC, it’s still possible that Avowed could follow suit.
