Obsidian Entertainment and Xbox Game Studios are planning a significant update for Avowed in February 2026, coinciding with the game’s one-year anniversary.
We had planned to release some of these features earlier, but we’ve combined them into a bigger update that includes a New Game Plus mode, a Photo Mode, a new weapon, more character customization options, the ability to change your character’s look while playing, and lots of other improvements. You can find details about our plans in the Avowed update roadmap below.

Avowed is now released on Xbox Series X|S and PC, available through the Microsoft Store, Steam, and Battle.net. You can read Bryan’s review of the game here, check out our Steam Deck feature here, and find helpful guides here.

Hi everyone! As you may know from our update plans, we were aiming to release something new this fall. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to do that. However, we’re now focusing on a bigger update that will arrive in February, coinciding with the one-year anniversary of Avowed’s launch.
This update delivers all the features we initially aimed for this fall, and even more! It’s going to be our largest update so far. We’ll share more details about our plans for the Living Lands early next year, so keep an eye out for future announcements.
