Seven years following the untimely death of Tim Bergling, better known as Avicii, his team has made public his final diary entry. This Swedish DJ and electronic music icon left behind a poignant message the day before his passing. In tribute to his life and enduring influence, they have unveiled an album titled “Avicii Forever,” comprising 19 tracks.
His last words: “The shedding of the soul is the last attachment, before it restarts!”
As a lifestyle expert, I find it heartbreaking to share this news that shook the Electronic Dance Music (EDM) community and left countless fans in despair. On April 20, 2018, Avicii was tragically found deceased in Muscat, Oman, following an apparent suicide by self-inflicted wounds with a broken wine bottle. His untimely passing has left an indelible mark on the music industry and continues to resonate deeply among his fans worldwide.
2016 marked the end of Avicii’s touring career due to ongoing battles with mental health problems and substance abuse. His family, in a heartfelt open letter, referred to him as a delicate artistic spirit, an ambitious overachiever, and someone yearning for tranquility.
Last year, a documentary titled “I’m Tim” provided a more in-depth exploration of its subject’s mental health challenges. This film was filled with various interviews and earned a standing ovation at the Tribeca Film Festival. It also showcased previously unseen footage, providing a unique glimpse into Avicii’s fight against anxiety and depression.
Jesse Waits, who was a good friend of the DJ, mentioned that in the last few months of his life, Avicii appeared drained and detached, using the analogy of him being like a “zombie” addicted to painkillers. During one dinner, Avicii seemed absent, even though his eyes were open wide, as Waits described it.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but feel deeply moved by Aloe Blacc’s poignant words about Avicii’s song “SOS” from the album Tim. He described it as a “desperate plea” that arrived far too late in time. Having collaborated with Avicii on his chart-topping hit “Wake Me Up,” I can’t help but feel an even deeper connection to this heartrending piece of music.
As a teenage prodigy in Stockholm, Avicii embarked on his musical journey, eventually capturing global attention through chart-topping songs such as Levels, Hey Brother, and Wake Me Up. Over the course of only six years, he graced more than 800 stages worldwide with his electrifying performances.
For quite some time, Avicii battled against the stresses of fame and, as a means to cope, turned to alcohol. In the documentary, he expressed, “I was destroying myself. The touring became more intense because the payments were rising… everything moved at an alarming pace from that point forward.
