Online rumors are circulating about the next Avengers movie, hinting that Marvel Studios might be taking inspiration from the popular Avengers and Secret Wars comic book series by Jonathan Hickman.
We got this information from Cryptic HD on X (formerly Twitter), who was answering a fan’s question about how much the new movie will resemble Jonathan Hickman’s comic book storyline.
So, from what I understand, the upcoming movie is taking the basic story we all know and love, but they’re tweaking things to really make it fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s not a straight adaptation, they’re making changes to better integrate it with everything else going on.
Warning: Possible spoilers follow.

Loki May Replace The Beyonders
One of the biggest rumored changes involves Loki.
Rumors suggest Loki will take on the role previously held by the Beyonders. In the comics by Jonathan Hickman, the Beyonders were incredibly powerful entities who destroyed entire universes, causing the events known as Incursions that ultimately led to Secret Wars.
If the rumors are true, Loki might play a key part in the movie’s main story, especially the conflict involving different universes.
There’s also talk that Marvel will be introducing a character based on Black Swan. In the comics, Black Swan works for Doctor Doom and alerts him to dangerous events called Incursions, which threaten to destroy universes by making them collide.

More Inspired By New Avengers And Secret Wars
The rumor claims that the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie will take more inspiration from Jonathan Hickman’s New Avengers and Secret Wars comics, rather than his Time Runs Out storyline.
“Time Runs Out” is the final chapter in Jonathan Hickman’s Avengers storyline, focusing on the Illuminati’s desperate attempt to prevent the destruction of the multiverse.
However, Cryptic suggests the Marvel Cinematic Universe might have hinted at this story already, pointing to the scene after the credits in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The storyline ‘Time Runs Out’ might not be completely featured in Avengers: Doomsday unless additional scenes are filmed and added later.

Doom’s Identity May Be Hidden
Another interesting rumor involves Doctor Doom himself.
Rumors suggest Doctor Doom might operate in secret throughout the Avengers: Doomsday event, keeping his true involvement hidden while he works on a mysterious scheme.
According to rumors, followers of the villain Doom will be in the movie, but their appearances will be mysterious at first. The film is expected to keep their identities secret to create a surprise later on.
As a comic and film fan, I noticed a really cool parallel here. It reminded me of a scene from the Hickman comics where Doctor Strange figures out that Doctor Doom has been cleverly hiding in plain sight, posing as this other character, Rabum Alal. It’s a neat little detail that they’ve brought to life on screen!
If the movie is true to the source material, it could hint at Doctor Doom’s overall scheme and the people working for him before showing his full identity and goals.

Avengers: Doomsday Release
Marvel Studios is planning another big team-up movie, likely titled Avengers: Doomsday, as one of its next major events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans will be working together again later this year. Before that, they’ll be seen together at the Oscars, where they’re scheduled to present an award.
Marvel has announced that Avengers: Doomsday will be released on December 18th, and Secret Wars is planned for 2027.
