Avengers Doomsday: Loki’s Fate Ties Into RDJ’s Doctor Doom Arrival

As a lifestyle expert with over two decades of immersion in the Marvel Universe, I must say that the upcoming Avengers movies are shaping up to be nothing short of epic. The return of Robert Downey Jr as Doctor Doom and the Russo Brothers has already set fanboys’ hearts racing, but the real question is: will Loki make a comeback?

Marvel Studios plans to bring out their A-game for the next two Avengers films – “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Secret Wars”. With the Kang storyline no longer being developed, fans were taken aback by Marvel’s unexpected announcement at SDCC 2024, featuring Robert Downey Jr as Doctor Doom. To top it off, the Russo Brothers are back. However, the specific storylines for these upcoming movies remain a mystery, and there is speculation about whether Loki, who has become crucial in the timeline, will make an appearance again.

Loki is the supreme being of the universe

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Loki played a pivotal part and experienced remarkable character development. The highly anticipated Loki series on Disney+ has redefined his role, making him the one with the Glorious Purpose who now maintains every timeline across the universe – effectively becoming the deity of the cosmos.

Though Loki initially appeared as a villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he served as the first Avengers’ adversary. Given Doctor Doom’s rise as the new major antagonist, it’s plausible that Loki could be needed for Doom’s malevolent schemes. Therefore, it’s reasonable to predict that Loki might reappear in Doomsday and potentially show up again during Secret Wars.

2021 marked my first dive into the mind-boggling world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s multiverses, courtesy of Loki’s series debut. In 2023, I was hooked even deeper as we delved further into this fascinating realm! The show masterfully laid the foundations for understanding the intricacies of the multiverse, unveiling concepts such as the Sacred Timeline, branched realities, and the Television Variance Authority’s (TVA) role in overseeing these timelines.

Will Loki return in upcoming Avengers movies?

In my perspective, the captivating character portrayed by Tom Hiddleston, Loki, ascended to a cosmic role surpassing that of my brother Thor, who stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Earth’s mightiest heroes, the Avengers. Loki, in essence, is not just a god but the very keystone of every universe’s existence. Yet, he also serves as our final bulwark against formidable and cosmic adversaries such as Doom, who I believe will prove to be even more menacing than Thanos.

While Loki’s actions appear to have shielded the multiverse temporarily, ominous signs of impending incursions persist, as suggested in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and The Marvels. Online speculation posits that the universe where the Fantastic Four hail from, set to debut in their upcoming film, could be on the brink of destruction. This potential catastrophe might pave the way for Doctor Doom’s entrance. However, it is postulated that Doom believes himself as the last hope to save his world and he may traverse the multiverse in a frantic bid to avert impending disaster.

In the end, Doctor Doom could focus his gaze towards the ambition of reaching the very edge of time itself, with the intention of usurping Loki’s position. With Robert Downey Jr portraying the infamous villain, this image of Doom seated upon a throne may become emblematic for the film. Marvel Studios might even push boundaries to show Doom overthrowing Loki, assuming his place on the throne, and subsequently forcing together multiple realities into a brand-new universe according to his own design – potentially in the climactic scenes of Doomsday.

Loki’s new role, new hero

In the comics, Doctor Doom utilizes the powers of several Molecule Men to conquer The Beyonders. By absorbing their cosmic energy, he alters the universe to suit his desires. Subsequently, he locks up the Molecule Man, using him as a means to fuel his newly acquired divine power.

Although the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t featured Molecule Man or The Beyonders yet, it’s plausible that Loki could step into their roles in a comparable narrative. Given his cosmic power and end-of-time status, Loki might embody The Beyonders, wielding the multiverse’s destiny.

In this alternate perspective, I believe Loki might be the key to Doom’s power, similar to how Molecule Man is to certain characters. If so, Doom may have imprisoned him as a means of keeping his control intact. This setup could lead Thor on a quest to locate and reconnect with Loki within the Battleworld created by Doom. Such an encounter would provide both Thor and Loki with an opportunity for resolution, potentially bringing closure to their tumultuous relationship.

There’s been talk for a while about the possibility of introducing The Beyonders into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it seems that this might become a reality when the right moment arises. Interestingly enough, this idea was first suggested by Iman Vellani, who plays a significant role in Marvel Studios’ upcoming film “The Marvels.” During an interview with New Rockstars host Erik Voss, she proposed a potential plan for Marvel to explore.

In my expertise, you might’ve noticed that Kang is no longer featured in recent storylines. Instead, Doctor Doom has masterfully rewritten the narrative. Given these changes, it becomes plausible to understand Loki stepping into the role of Beyonder. After all, Doom seems to be targeting Loki as a means to neutralize this new threat.

As a long-time Marvel fan who has followed the adventures of the Avengers since their debut, I must admit that I am quite intrigued by the prospect of Loki’s potential return in future movies. Having watched him evolve from an antagonist to a complex character with his own motivations and moral ambiguity, I find myself eagerly awaiting any news regarding his role in the upcoming films. With his cunning wit, charismatic charm, and knack for causing chaos, Loki has become one of my favorite characters in the Marvel universe. It’s hard to imagine the Avengers without him, and I can only hope that he will grace our screens once again, even if it is just for a cameo or a brief appearance.
