‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Filming Date Revealed, Won’t Shoot Alongside ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’

As a lifelong Marvel fan who has watched every single flick since the early days of Nick Fury’s covert operations, this news about Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Doctor Doom in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is nothing short of electrifying! I remember back in 2008 when Iron Man first graced our screens, and now to see the man behind Tony Stark taking on the villainous role of Doctor Doom – it’s like a dream come true.

Recently at Comic-Con San Diego, Kevin Feige excited fans by revealing that Robert Downey Jr. will rejoin the Marvel universe, this time portraying Doctor Doom in the upcoming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’.

The movie, which will be directed by the Russo brothers (Anthony and Joe) and written by Stephen McFeely, is scheduled to hit theaters worldwide on May 1, 2026. Although the exact starting date for filming wasn’t revealed at Comic-Con, we recently found out from Collider that production is planned for this spring.

Excited fans of the Fantastic Four can anticipate the appearance of the team in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. After their initial introduction in ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ (slated for release on July 25, 2025), all four characters will be integrated into the main cast.

Pedro Pascal and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will take on roles as Mr. Fantastic and The Thing in ‘First Steps’, respectively. Vanessa Kirby and Joseph Quinn are cast as the Storm siblings, while Ralph Ineson is joining the cast as the villainous Galactus.

At a recent chat with Steve Weintraub from Collider during New York Comic Con, director Joe Russo revealed that ‘Doomsday’ will, in fact, be filmed this coming spring.

Additionally, he subtly emphasized the size and thrill associated with the venture, which is eagerly awaited by fans of Marvel. Moreover, Benedict Cumberbatch will once again take on the character of Doctor Strange, infusing yet another dimension of enchantment and intrigue into the storyline.

Additionally, Kevin Feige hinted that the Thunderbolts team could feature in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, but specific characters have yet to be revealed. Their role will likely come after their own movie titled ‘Thunderbolts’, which is scheduled for release by Marvel Studios in 2025, preceding ‘Captain America: Brave New World’.

The upcoming film ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to offer an exhilarating roster and the comeback of beloved figures, marking it as a significant instalment within the Marvel universe storyline.

Starting from the next bloom of spring, we’ll stay tuned for further developments and exclusive tidbits. Don’t forget to revisit ‘Avengers: Endgame’, which is now available on Disney+, as a reminder of where our superheroes were last seen.
