We’re already thrilled about the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender Chibis Volume 2—Sokka’s Boomerang Class, and getting a sneak peek at the cover has us even more excited! This new Avatar: The Last Airbender comic is clearly designed for younger audiences, but we’re definitely fans too – especially with adorable chibi versions of our favorite characters, like Zuko’s wonderfully grumpy face!
In Avatar: The Last Airbender Chibis Volume 2—Sokka’s Boomerang Class, Sokka, who doesn’t have bending abilities like the rest of Team Avatar, is sometimes made fun of. But he is a master boomerang thrower! He decides to teach Aang, Katara, Toph, and Zuko how to throw boomerangs, and a fun, surprising day of “Boomerang School” ensues.
Dark Horse Books and Avatar Studios also announced that Kelly Leigh Miller, the author of popular children’s books like I Am a Wolf and Cloud Puppy, will write the story. Ruka Ito (SangoBouro) will provide the illustrations, and Jimmy Betancourt of Comicraft (Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures) will handle the lettering.
The second volume of Avatar: The Last Airbender Chibis, titled Sokka’s Boomerang Class, will be available in stores and online on July 21, 2026. You can pre-order it now from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and your local comic book or book store for $8.99.
