‘Scary Movie’ is a funny horror film that playfully imitates popular slasher and teen thriller movies from the late 1990s. Directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans and written by Shawn and Marlon Wayans, along with others, the film stars Anna Faris, Regina Hall, and the Wayans brothers themselves. Released by Dimension Films, it was a huge success, topping the box office in North America and becoming popular worldwide. It also kicked off a series of spoof movies.

After a nuclear war destroys the Northern Hemisphere, a U.S. submarine arrives in Australia, carrying survivors. As dangerous radiation spreads southward, the crew desperately searches for any other signs of life. Starring Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner, the film portrays both the government’s efforts to maintain order – including rationing and civil defense – and the personal stories of those facing their final days, all while time runs out. It follows investigations into radio signals, hoping to find other survivors.

As a movie critic who keeps a close eye on streaming numbers, I’m seeing some concerning trends with Disney+. Their monthly subscriber loss rate, or ‘churn,’ jumped significantly – from 4% in August to 8% in September. And it wasn’t just Disney+; Hulu experienced a similar doubling of churn, going from 5% to 10% in that same period. These numbers suggest viewers are starting to cancel their subscriptions at a faster rate, and that’s something Disney needs to address.

Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear, the new drama series set in Texas follows Austin firefighters led by Captain Owen Strand (Rob Lowe) as they respond to major emergencies and navigate their personal lives. Premiering October 20th, the show also stars Ronen Rubinstein, Sierra McClain, Natacha Karam, Jim Parrack, Rafael Silva, Brian Michael Smith, and Gina Torres as paramedic Tommy Vega. It combines thrilling rescue stories with ongoing character development, exploring themes of family, identity, and overcoming challenges. Each episode features both large-scale disasters and more intimate stories about the firefighters and their connections.

Shortly after Disney bought 21st Century Fox in 2019, they announced at CinemaCon that they were working on continuing the Maze Runner series with new projects.
