In a thrilling nod to Marvel’s past productions primarily from 20th Century Fox, Deadpool and Wolverine witnessed an impressive array of cameos from former Marvel characters. The collective jaws of fans everywhere dropped as Wesley Snipes, Jennifer Garner, Channing Tatum, Dafne Keen, and Chris Evans reappeared on screen in their old Marvel roles. However, despite the numerous returning actors, there were some who unfortunately didn’t get a chance to return. Surprisingly, some actors were never approached by Marvel. During an interview on Josh Horowitz’s “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, director Shawn Levy revealed which actors he attempted to bring back and which ones he hadn’t considered asking.

Following the blockbuster hit of Deadpool & Wolverine, which marked the integration of Fox mutants into a larger narrative, the burning question becomes “What’s in store next?” for these mutant characters within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)? Given that many of the most iconic X-Men from the Fox era were absent from the film, it seems likely that Kevin Feige is planning a grand sendoff for the A-list X-Men. This plan likely involves bringing together the Avengers and the X-Men on screen for the first time, which could very well happen in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a sinister group known as the Serpent Society is set to appear for the first time in the upcoming film, “Captain America: Brave New World”. This organization, consisting of characters with snake-themed personas, is led by Sidewinder, portrayed by Giancarlo Esposito. The Serpent Society has a rich history within Marvel Comics. Back in 2015, the MCU’s head, Kevin Feige, playfully announced that the title for Captain America 3 would be “Captain America: Serpent Society”, only to reveal later that it was actually “Captain America: Civil War”. However, the joke is no longer funny as the Serpent Society is now making their legitimate debut. Over the course of three emotionally resonant seasons, this show about an American football coach venturing into the unfamiliar territory of soccer has touched countless viewers. Frankly, who would have thought that such a premise could stir up so many feelings? Indeed, during these tumultuous pandemic years, Ted Lasso served as a beacon of light, providing comfort and entertainment in equal measure.

Some viewers might initially perceive the addition of a potent Heavy Metal tune to Middle-earth’s realm as puzzling. However, Tolkien’s works and the broader fantasy genre have had a profound impact on Heavy Metal music for years. In fact, this genre has been cherished by numerous fantasy enthusiasts. Consequently, it isn’t perplexing but rather an apt closure for composer Bear McCreary to incorporate Heavy Metal into the soundtrack of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season two with the forceful “The Last Ballad of Damrod.” Notably, Damrod is a novel adversary introduced in The Rings of Power season two, a troll unlike any we’ve encountered before.
