I have an unmatched affection for complex antiheroes with a sorrowful background. Many would concur that “X2: X-Men United” is a remarkable superhero film. In this moment, Aaron Stanford’s portrayal of Pyro, or John Allerdyce, gazes at his reflection in a family photo of Bobby, aka Iceman, surrounded by happiness. To me, this scene from “X2” conveys a powerful message: Pyro’s pain and isolation resonate even amongst other outcasts.

In the initial trailer for “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Marvel Studios hinted that Pyro, played by Stanford, would make a comeback in the MCU movie. It has been almost twenty years since Stanford portrayed Pyro last, in “X-Men: The Last Stand.” For ardent fans of Pyro, the notion that he might resurface seemed like an unattainable wish. In his conversation with TopMob, Stanford revealed that he too had no inkling of a Pyro revival until rumors about “Deadpool & Wolverine” began to circulate. However, it’s now official – the dream is becoming a reality!

Marvel has explored various genres through its MCU films and shows. However, there’s one popular genre missing – “romantasy.” To propose an idea if Marvel intends to expand the MCU audience, how about a Disney+ series centered around Pyro’s life as a gothic romance novelist? Starring Aaron Stanford in this role could make for an unforgettable experience.
