As anticipated, the character commonly known as The Leader is predominantly portrayed as a foe of the Hulk rather than Captain America. Legendary creators Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, who are behind famous characters like Spider-Man and Dr. Strange, introduced The Leader (whose real name is Samuel Sterns) in 1964. They created him to be the Hulk’s polar opposite, making him his ultimate adversary. Unlike Bruce Banner, who transforms into a mindless monster when he becomes the Hulk, Samuel Sterns evolves from a low IQ worker to one of the planet’s most intelligent minds, rivaling even Reed Richards from the Fantastic Four. Alongside the Abomination, The Leader has maintained his position as one of the Hulk’s most well-known adversaries for over six decades.

Based on what I’ve seen on Facebook and Twitter, my response to the trailer for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is quite average. It seems closer in style to an MCU Disney+ series rather than the grand, theatrical summer blockbuster it’s intended to be.

Indeed, the 2000s witnessed three high-profile and costly disappointments when it came to introducing vampires onto the stage. Since those three missteps, nobody has ventured to revive vampires on Broadway. Before The Lost Boys makes its grand debut in attempting a vampire musical after almost two decades, let us revisit the history of three vampire-themed productions that could serve as a lesson in caution.
