47-year-old filmmaker was primarily recognized for his humor-based films, like co-penning the screenplay for I Heart Huckabees (2004) and helming Life After Beth (2014), a zombie comedy featuring Aubrey Plaza. Later on, he launched an anthology series entitled Cinema Toast, which served as Plaza’s directorial debut; this series made its premiere on Showtime in 2021.
It’s thought that Plaza and Baena began dating around 2011. Their marriage was revealed to fans in May 2021 when Plaza, who is 40 years old, called Baena her “dear husband” on an Instagram post. Later, a representative confirmed the news to People magazine.

She observed that, although they didn’t wish to spend extended periods apart, perhaps the occasional compulsion to do so aided them in finding harmony.

Prior to her husband’s death, Aubrey Plaza was set to give an award at the Golden Globes ceremony on Sunday.
