Assassin’s Creed Shadows Roadmap: Big Update & Expansion Announced!

Ubisoft has unveiled the upcoming plans for “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” within its initial year post-release. Now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, this game will be supplemented with a blend of free and premium content. The highly anticipated first major update is set to drop next week on May 6, offering fresh story elements and additional features.

In the initial significant overhaul, you’ll find a free narrative quest titled “The Works of Luis Frois.” This adventure offers players an intimate glimpse into a genuine historical character from Japan’s Sengoku era. Look forward to encountering novel abilities, characters, and global events through these “Story Drops,” which will be gradually introduced in upcoming updates.

Ubisoft will keep improving the game with free updates. These include:

  • New difficulty settings
  • New gameplay modes
  • New Game+
  • Free quests
  • Special collaborations
  • Community-requested features

An upcoming photo mode update will offer fresh filters, decorative elements like stickers, various character positions, facial expressions, and background tunes to enhance the experience of capturing stunning game shots for players.

Enthusiasts of fluid motion can look forward to an improvement in parkour, as a significant upgrade is scheduled for release in May. This initial update brings exciting enhancements such as:

  • Back-ejects for jumping upward
  • Side-eject improvements
  • A brand-new move called Vertical Ledge Jump, letting characters grab onto low ledges and awnings

Later in 2021, Ubisoft plans to debut the initial expansion for the game titled Claws of Awaji. Those who pre-ordered the game can enjoy this addition at no extra cost. This fresh installment delves further into the narrative of primary characters Naoe and Yasuke, offers a new island to traverse, and presents novel adversaries, abilities, and a Bo staff weapon for Naoe’s use.

Ubisoft is actively making efforts to enhance the game, taking player suggestions into account. Already implemented improvements include:

  • Horse auto-follow
  • Faster city movement
  • Easier upgrades at the forge and shops

In June, another update will let players:

  • Toggle headgear during cutscenes
  • Turn off certain visual effects
  • Adjust how the alarm system works in the open world for more challenge

More updates are planned throughout the year, including:

  • New content in the Animus Hub
  • A fully-featured New Game+
  • A tougher difficulty mode for experienced players

Ubisoft is also busy preparing unexpected updates and exciting partnerships, details of which will be unveiled shortly.
