Ashley Judd openly discussed how her mother, Naomi Judd, reacted unexpectedly when Ashley disclosed that she had been raped several times as a teenage model in Tokyo, Japan.

In an episode of Lifetime’s documentary series, The Judd Family: Truth Be Told, the actress disclosed that she had been subjected to sexual assault and rape on multiple occasions while residing alone at a distance from her home as a minor without adult supervision.

Ashley shared that some individuals from a modeling agency requested her to remove her clothing and walk around bare, which happened when I was only 14 years old. Looking back, it was an unfortunate period marked by commercial sexual exploitation, she said.

She went on to disclose that over the summer, the leader of the organization sexually abused her, and another individual raped her on two separate occasions. Additionally, she remembered being attacked by another model. In her own words, “They took control of my body.

Ashley made it clear that she was not an instigator in the attacks, rather, she was the one who suffered as a victim, being just a young girl at the time.

Ashley stated that she and her mother had many discussions about sexual assault and rape later in life, but her mother’s viewpoint was not one she developed and changed into – she simply didn’t have access to that information and understanding at the time. As a result, when Ashley shared her experience, her mother responded with disdain, effectively silencing her.

Yet, Ashley commended her mother for standing by her side during her high-profile dispute with the disgraced film producer, Harvey Weinstein. In 2018, she was one of the first to make public accusations against Weinstein, which significantly contributed to the rise of the #MeToo movement.

When Ashley chose to provide information for The New York Times’ 2017 expose on Weinstein, her mother advised her to “take him down.” It was known that her mother disliked Harvey, and she referred to him as a “boorish character.
