Ashes of the Singularity 2 announced for PC

Companies Oxide Games and Stardock have revealed their plans to develop a new game, titled “Ashes of the Singularity 2“. They aim for a launch on PC platforms in the year 2026.

2016’s Ashes of the Singularity marked Oxide Games’ first venture into the gaming world, a title that drew inspiration from the expansive scope of the Supreme Commander series. Following its release, they introduced a separate expansion pack in the same year before moving onto the creation of their 4X turn-based strategy game, Ara: History Untold, which hit the shelves in 2024.

In the sequel to Ashes of the Singularity, humans will be introduced as a playable faction, adding a new dimension to the game’s narrative previously centered around powerful artificial intelligences fighting among themselves. The United Earth Forces, seeking to reclaim Earth, must now confront forces from both AI and Post-Human entities in this expanded conflict.

In addition to a solo story mode, there will also be cooperative and multiplayer options available. New units and gameplay elements are being introduced as well.

10 years ago, Stardock Corporation’s CEO, Brad Wardell, declared that our Real-Time Strategy (RTS) games had established a unique standard with their large-scale battles and pioneering technology. Now, with Ashes of the Singularity II, we are aiming even higher, offering strategic gameplay depth that RTS enthusiasts have long envisioned.

He mentioned: “It’s clear that during the initial game, the most common demand was for a playable human faction. At that time, it wasn’t feasible to include thousands of realistic, mobile, soft-bodied entities in the game world, so we opted for mechanical elements instead. We’re thrilled about introducing humans into the conflict and observing how they hold up against the colossal robotic armies of Substrate and PHC.
