Wow, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is seriously amazing! Joshua Wolens gave it a 90 in his review, and honestly, it feels like a massive step up from the first game. But what’s really cool is that the developers, Warhorse Studios, aren’t just happy with making a top game of 2025 – they’re aiming to be the best RPG out there. They want to rule the RPG world, and I think they might just do it!
During a preview of the upcoming Mysteria Ecclesiae DLC for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Warhorse Studios’ communications director, Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, shared the team’s ambition. He stated that Warhorse is dedicated to the RPG genre and aims to become a leading force in it.
According to Stolz-Zwilling, Warhorse is already heading in the right direction with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, successfully combining well-crafted quests with a dynamic, open world similar to the enjoyable surprises found in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. Stolz-Zwilling states that this approach will continue with their future projects, promising that they will remain immersive role-playing games. They feel they’ve found a unique formula and plan to stick with it.
Warhorse Studios faces strong competition in the RPG market. Larian, known for its popular RPGs, is working on two new games, and Sandfall Interactive has quickly become a favorite with their game, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. While Bethesda, BioWare, and Obsidian haven’t been as consistently successful lately, they’re still major players with promising projects like The Elder Scrolls 6, a new Mass Effect, and Obsidian’s history of creating successful games.
It’s also worth noting that CD Projekt Red recently hired a quest designer from the team working on the potential Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. This shows Warhorse is considered a major player in the RPG genre, although it means that designer will now be contributing to The Witcher 4 instead of Warhorse’s next project.
For now, though, Warhorse’s priority is that Mysteria Ecclesiae DLC, which released today and sees Henry put on whatever the 14th Century equivalent of a Deerstalker was and embark upon a spot of sleuthing in the secluded Sedletz Monastery. It only has a few Steam reviews so far, but they are largely positive, with one calling it “The best DLC so far.”
