In a chat with PEOPLE magazine, Zoe Kravitz revealed insights into the creation of ‘Blink Twice’ and spoke about working alongside her partner Channing Tatum on this venture. When queried if they might join forces on future projects, Kravitz expressed optimism, stating that since art is their shared form of expression, they deeply appreciate discussing, experiencing, and backing each other’s artistic endeavors.
The actress from Divergent commented that it was “thrilling” to see Tatum portray the complex character Slater King, mentioning that he delivered a “strong performance”, and as an actor, she found herself thinking, ‘This is rich material that he’s never had the opportunity to explore before.’ Additionally, she noted that he took on this role because he’s an advocate. He wants to bring this story to light.
As per the given synopsis, the movie Blink Twice focuses on Slater King, a tech mogul who encounters cocktail waitress Frida (Naomi Ackie) at his charity event. He subsequently invites her to join him and his companions for an idyllic getaway on his personal island. Throughout their trip, peculiar incidents occur, causing Frida to doubt the authenticity of her surroundings as she senses something amiss. Kravitz openly acknowledged battling self-doubt during her debut as a film director. She confided in a media outlet that after the initial day of shooting, she experienced a wave of uncertainty and overpowering feelings, adding that the editing stage proved difficult too, as it took a significant amount of time for the movie to take its final shape.
She added that the process felt like a cycle of good and bad days, recalling how Tatum would ask, “Which version of Zoe is walking into the house today? Is she excited, or is she a puddle?”
Currently, Channing Tatum has commended Zoe Kravitz for penning and directing the psychological thriller. In an interview with Consequence, Tatum expressed his uncertainty about whether directing was a deliberate step for her, but he strongly felt that it was something she needed to acknowledge as what she was destined to do.
