‘Army of Darkness’ Comics Give Ash the Ultimate Aliens-Inspired Power Boost

As a lifelong fan of both Ash Williams and the Alien franchise, I can’t help but feel like my wildest dreams have finally come true with the latest developments in the Army of Darkness comics! The idea of Ash donning an Aliens-inspired battle suit and facing off against his own robotic doppelgänger is nothing short of epic.

The comics related to “Army of Darkness” originated from the movie with the same title and were initially released by Dark Horse Comics. Later on, they were continued by Dynamite Entertainment under the guidance of Devil’s Due Publishing.

The tales trace the journey of Ash Williams, a central character in the Evil Dead series, and frequently intertwine with figures such as Marvel Zombies, Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Dracula, Xena, among others.

In 2014’s “Army of Darkness” comic series penned by Cullen Bunn and Larry Watts, Ash constructs a mighty space mech suit, influenced by “Aliens”. This upgrade significantly elevates his renowned chainsaw hand, making him an even greater force to be reckoned with.

Ash’s cosmic journey begins in the Army of Darkiness: Ash Ties the Knot miniseries, where he finds himself caught in a space-time whirlpool just before his honeymoon. There, he encounters an astrologer named Artemus Vrill who possesses the sinister Necronomicon.

In the end, they find themselves aboard a spacecraft, and upon blastoff, the astronauts transform into Deadites. Ash confronts these Deadites as their spacecraft’s Necronomicon corrupts his robotic limb. To counter the enhanced Robo-Ash, he constructs a combat suit from scrap, drawing inspiration from Ripley’s attire in Aliens.

In issue 4 of “Army of Darkness,” Ash gets to test out his latest combat gear. With ease, he dispatches a few Deadites, even flinging an astronaut using his chainsaw-equipped arm, all the while serenading them with iconic rock tunes.

Initially, when Bad Ash squares off against Robo Ash, it appears that one side has the upper hand, as Robo Ash captures Bad Ash by the neck. However, Robo Ash retaliates using a sinister hand, which transforms into spider legs and a mouth, clinging to Bad Ash’s face, escalating the conflict dramatically.

For quite some time now, enthusiasts have harbored the wish to see a collaboration between the “Alien” series. This potential method could be the key!
