‘Army of Darkness’ Actor Marcus Gilbert Dies at 67, Cause of Death Revealed

Marcus Gilbert, a British actor known for his role as Arthur in the popular horror film Army of Darkness, has died at the age of 67. According to the Marcus Gilbert Fansite, he passed away on January 11th after battling throat cancer for three years.

Born in Bristol, England, in July 1958, Gilbert started his career as a stage actor after training at Mountview Theatre School. He later transitioned to film and television, where he enjoyed a consistently successful career working in a variety of roles and productions.

Bruce Campbell is best known for his iconic role as the boastful Lord Arthur in the 1992 film Army of Darkness. He revisited the character years later by providing his voice for Evil Dead: The Game, bringing Lord Arthur to a new audience.

Beyond his work on the Evil Dead films, Richard Gilbert had a successful career in many popular TV shows and movies. He played the villain in Rambo III and was a notable figure in a Doctor Who story arc called “Battlefield.” He also had leading roles in the TV series Riders and guest appearances in shows like Murder, She Wrote, Jonathan Creek, Robin of Sherwood, and Doctors. His film credits include Biggles, A Ghost in Monte Carlo, Legacy, and Freebird.

Gilbert had a diverse career, including work in theater and numerous commercials – he appeared in over 50! He eventually started his own production company. He was married to Dr. Homaa Khan-Gilbert, who sadly passed away in 2020, and is remembered by his two children.
