As someone who cherishes the bond between siblings, I can only imagine the incredible joy and pride Frankie Grande must feel as he watches his little sister Ariana Grande grace the big screen as Glinda in Wicked. Having been a dedicated follower of their journey since the Broadway days, it’s heartwarming to see their shared dream come true.
We’d love ourselves a supportive older brother like Frankie Grande.
41-year-old influencer attended a cinema screening, donning a sparkling pink suit, to cheer on his sister Ariana Grande in her new film “Wicked,” where she portrays the cheerful Glinda, the Good Witch. Unfortunately, he felt slighted when the ticket counter attendant inquired about which movie he intended to watch.
On Saturday, November 23rd, Frankie posted a video on Instagram while wearing the previously mentioned pink attire, standing near a woman working with a Wicked popcorn bucket in his hand, mockingly stating that he was there to witness Gladiator II. He humorously added as a caption for the post, “Denzel [Washington] left me speechless.” For those unaware, Washington, aged 67 at the time, is featured in Gladiator II alongside Paul Mescal and Pedro Pascal.
On Thursday, November 21st, two highly-anticipated films, Gladiator II and Wicked (with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as the main actors), were released in cinemas, just one day prior to Frankie’s TikTok upload.
Prior to the debut of “Wicked”, Frankie posted on Instagram, expressing his admiration for his sister while sharing photos from the LA premiere of the movie. In this post, he recounted their shared journey with “Wicked”, from developing a fondness for the Broadway musical adaptation to discovering about Grande’s casting in the upcoming version.
Starting from when I returned home from college and shared with you about a new musical called Wicked after watching it in previews, up until when we met Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel backstage at the Gershwin Theater when you were 10 years old, through to your telling me you had been cast as Glinda and us crying together on the bathroom floor, all the way to this incredible premiere in Los Angeles. I am beyond thrilled, ecstatic, and overwhelmed with joy to announce that you [Ariana], are indeed Glinda the good. I am so proud of you, and my love for you knows no bounds. This was written by him earlier this month.
In his message, Frankie not only sent well-wishes to his sister but also pointed out that, at last, the world will have a chance to watch the film she has been working on extensively, somehow or other.
In the film adaptation of “Wicked,” which is inspired by the Broadway musical and Gregory Maguire’s book, actors such as Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Marissa Bode, and Peter Dinklage join the already star-studded cast that includes Florence Welch (Elphaba) and Ariana Grande (Glinda). The narrative follows the journey of their characters from adversaries to friends, then back to rivals.
