Even though ‘Wicked’s’ songs aren’t qualified for the Best Original Song award at the Oscars, Grande and her co-star Cynthia Erivo expressed their desire to perform at the event. “Of course, we enjoy singing together,” Grande said. “I’d sing with her anywhere, anytime, especially as a celebration of Wicked. I adore her, she’s my sister. Just tell us to show up and we will be there.
While it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, some experts within the field are mentioning the same development, expressing a sense of dismay.
As a devoted cinephile, I was excited to hear the original song nominees at this year’s Oscars. However, to my surprise, the Academy has made an unexpected decision – they won’t be showcasing these performances during the ceremony this year. Instead, they plan to kick things off with a medley from the musical “Wicked”. Some believe that this performance might be more fitting for the Tony Awards, which honor theatrical productions.
