Are There Other Heroes in ‘The Fantastic Four’ Universe? Director Breaks Silence!

As a seasoned gamer and Marvel fan who has seen more than his fair share of superhero movies, I must admit that the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot has me intrigued. The casting choices of Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby are spot on, and the inclusion of Galactus and Silver Surfer is a welcome addition to the roster.

Given that past efforts with this “Fantastic Four” franchise haven’t fared well, it’s clear that the upcoming movie is a top priority for Marvel Studios. It seems that Kevin Feige is assembling a strong team to ensure the franchise gets the attention and success it deserves, which would be fantastic news indeed!

Two prominent actors, Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby, will form the main cast of the movie. Additionally, characters such as Galactus and the Silver Surfer are expected to appear on screen. It’s also rumored that Robert Downey Jr.’s character, Victor Von Doom, might show up after the credits roll. Marvel seems to be bringing out their heavy hitters, as suggested by all this information, but fans could potentially be treated to even more shocking twists.

It’s quite likely that aside from the Fantastic Four and Galactus, other significant characters will feature in the series. We’ve already mentioned Silver Surfer and Doctor Doom, but fans are curious if there are other superheroes within this universe. Interestingly, director Matt Shakman has shared some insights about this topic in an old interview.

Although the interview isn’t very old, it hasn’t received much attention from the media until recently. It was a brief conversation Shankman had with journalists at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, an event you’re likely familiar with, where when asked about other heroes in his film’s narrative, he made these comments:

“What’s amazing here is that we’re creating a fresh realm, devoid of any other superheroes – it’s essentially our own version of the Fantastic Four.

It’s evident that Shankman has established that the Fantastic Four are the sole superheroes in his particular storyline, which is a notable detail. We’re unsure about the specific continuity or how it will tie into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, but what we can verify is that this universe lacks other heroes, with the exception of the main characters.

This aligns perfectly with Shakman’s original concept for the film and narrative, as he discussed in an earlier interview we came across.

In our initial discussions, we chose not to delve into an origin story. To distinguish our version, we’re skipping the part where they ascend and undergo transformation, and instead, we’re launching our narrative at a later stage. There’s already a familiar plotline that leads up to that point, and then you get to create your unique tale from the end of Act 1 onwards. We felt it would be fresh and exciting to start this off with a clean slate, which is why we decided to begin our story after that event.
