The final episodes of Stranger Things Season 5 are here, and everyone’s wondering if any major characters will die. The first part of the season didn’t have any big character deaths, so many viewers expect that to change in this volume. We’re about to reveal who survives and who doesn’t, so if you want to avoid spoilers, check out our spoiler-free review instead. Otherwise, let’s get into it!

Are there any Major Character Deaths in Stranger Things 5, Volume 2
Don’t worry, no main characters die in the second part of Stranger Things 5. Honestly, it’s a bit surprising! We were prepared for some sad moments, especially after the first part didn’t have any major deaths – it felt like just the setup. We really expected at least one heartbreaking character to go in Volume 2, but it didn’t happen.
Jonathan and Nancy Almost Die in Stranger Things 5, Volume 2—But Survive

Similar to what happened with the Wheelers, Nancy and Jonathan experienced a dramatic fake-out death in the second part of Stranger Things 5. During episode six, “Escape From Camazotz,” they found themselves trapped inside the collapsing Hawkins Lab in the Upside Down. As the room literally melted around them, they seemingly accepted their fate. This led to a heartfelt and honest conversation – possibly their first in seasons. It was a moving scene, and both the viewers and the characters believed it was the end for them. However, unexpectedly, the melting stopped, the goo solidified, and they miraculously survived.
Jonathan and Nancy’s Relationship Did Die in Stranger Things 5, Volume 2, RIP

While no major characters died in the final volume of Stranger Things season 5, a significant relationship did end. Nancy and Jonathan, facing a difficult situation, finally had an honest conversation about their futures, and realized they weren’t meant to be together romantically. This marked the end of their on-again, off-again relationship, often called ‘Jancy.’ Though many fans might miss ‘Jancy,’ some will be relieved it means the return of ‘Stancy’ isn’t on the horizon.
No Deaths in Stranger Things 5, Volume 2 May Mean MANY Deaths in Volume 3/The Finale

The first part of Stranger Things season 5 has been released, and surprisingly, no main characters have died yet. While the creators, the Duffer Brothers, have said this season won’t be as shocking as Game of Thrones—promising no equivalent of the “Red Wedding” scene—they have warned us that it will feature the most violent death of the entire series. Since we haven’t seen any major character deaths so far, it seems likely that the final episode will deliver on that promise.
Get ready for the final chapter of Stranger Things! Volumes 1 and 2 of Stranger Things 5 are currently available on Netflix. The final volume, Stranger Things 5: The Finale, will be released on December 31st at 5 PM Pacific Time / 8 PM Eastern Time. Don’t forget your Peanut Butter Boppers!
Rotem Rusak leads the editorial team at TopMob. She’s really hoping Steve and Dustin make it through the final season of Stranger Things, and she wouldn’t mind seeing Eddie Munson return either.
