In Arc Raiders, you’ll start in the underground city of Speranza and venture out to explore the ruins of what was once Italy. The developers at Embark Studios have long-term plans for the game – up to ten years – which means we might eventually get to explore locations around the globe.
As a huge fan, I was really intrigued when the executive producer, Aleksander Grøndal, explained what’s happening in the show. Basically, things have changed a lot in their world, and the raiders are like, rediscovering everything. They’ve lost a lot of history, so it makes total sense they’re now trying to figure out what else is out there and what their world is really about. It’s like they’re starting fresh, and I can’t wait to see what they find!
The game is set in the Rust Belt, but as the story progresses, we plan to expand to new areas, and potentially even beyond that region. Exploring a larger world is definitely something we’re considering. We haven’t made any firm decisions yet, but it’s possible within the game’s overall story. We’re interested in showing what’s happening in the wider world, especially from the perspective of the raiders.
The game already has diverse launch maps, but expanding the settings across Europe would open up exciting possibilities. Developers could create a wider range of environments, deepen the game’s story, introduce new creatures, and offer players varied weather and beautiful scenery.
Keep this in mind as you start playing Dam Battleground, Spaceport, Buried City, and Blue Gate when they become available on October 30th.
For more, Embark recently spoke about its plans for voluntary wipes in Arc Raiders.
