In an effort to offer something fresh within the turn-based strategy genre, Oxide Games decided to depart from traditional methods with their game, Ara: History Untold, notably excluding unique units for each nation – a feature that fans have been yearning for. However, an upcoming Update 2.0, slated for release on September 24, 2025, aims to shake things up by revamping these and other aspects of the game.
In addition to creating distinct character classes like the longbowmen for England and samurai for Japan, this update will customize each in-game leader with exclusive mechanisms, characteristics, and skills. Currently, these characters share traits from a common selection of possibilities.
As a thrilled enthusiast, I’m excited to share that a significant upgrade will introduce a Culture and Influence system into the game! This system is all about city life quality, generating Influence which can be utilized to obtain cultural attributes and territorial claims. Towards the latter stages of the game, you’ll discover an exceptional unit known as Agitators. These Agitators can be dispatched to foreign lands, stirring up rebellion and undermining their leadership, enabling you to peacefully expand your territory without resorting to war.
In the new version 2.0 update, you can expect significant improvements to various aspects of the game, including the crafting system for goods, enemy artificial intelligence, map creation, and user interface design. Additionally, optimizations have been made to enhance overall performance and reduce loading times for a smoother gaming experience.
