Prepare to revisit the unsettling realm of Rosemary’s Baby as you delve into Apartment 7A, a new horror production by Paramount. Julia Garner stars in this spine-tingling tale, produced by John Krasinski and Michael Bay. The film unfolds a chilling narrative that takes place years before the original 1968 classic, set within the Bramford building. Catch Apartment 7A at Fantastic Fest on September 20, with its release on Paramount+ following closely on September 27. Plunge once more into the haunting saga of this eerie apartment complex!
A trailer for the prequel titled Apartment 7A, created by John Krasinski and Michael Bay, has been unveiled by Paramount. This production, jointly made by Paramount+ and Paramount Pictures, portrays a young woman experiencing terror prior to Rosemary Woodhouse in the storyline. The film is inspired by Ira Levin’s novel and marks another effort to broaden the narrative. Previously, the property of Rosemary’s Baby has been reimagined for television and has also led to a sequel.
In 1976, the world of Rosemary’s Baby grew bigger with the release of the TV movie Look What Happened to Rosemary’s Baby, directed by Roman Polanski. This kickstarted a series that now encompasses a 1976 television sequel made specifically for this purpose, an upcoming prequel set to stream in 2024, and a television series based on the original story.
In apartment number 7A, the character Julia Garner portrays Terry Gionoffrio, a passionate young dancer aspiring for stardom and wealth. Following a heart-wrenching accident, she finds refuge under the roof of an affluent, elderly couple, played by Dianne Wiest and Kevin McNally.
In this adaptation, Jim Sturgess portrays a significant Broadway producer, and his character befriends Terry, offering her another opportunity to shine in the limelight. After an uneventful night she can’t recall, Terry encounters unsettling occurrences, causing her to ponder the boundaries of what she is prepared to forfeit for her profession. Eventually, she comes to understand that there’s something sinister not just in her newly inhabited flat but also within the Bramford building itself.
The movie, starring Marli Siu, Andrew Buchan, Rosy McEwen, and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, is set to bring a fresh surge of fear. Premiering at Fantastic Fest on September 20, it will be streamable on Paramount+ from September 27.
