Anthony Mackie Keeps the MCU “Beef” with Tom Holland Alive: “They Gonna Do It Until They’re 90!”

As a long-time fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I’ve been thoroughly entertained by the playful rivalry between Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Anthony Mackie‘s Falcon. Their banter has added an exciting dynamic to the films and kept fans engaged in their unique friendship.

In 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War,” Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Anthony Mackie’s Falcon initially crossed paths. During the movie’s promotional events, Mackie would often poke fun at Holland, jestingly labeling him a diva and mocking his need for regular breaks and close supervision on set. This playful banter persisted in subsequent interviews. Holland reminisces about an instance where he employed one of Mackie’s signature phrases on set, unwittingly overshadowing Mackie and perhaps igniting their friendly competition.

Over a long period, their playful exchanges have consistently continued. For example, during an interview at Comic-Con in 2018, Mackie made a jest about not watching Holland’s movie “Spider-Man: Homecoming”. Holland then retorted by pointing out that Mackie didn’t yet have his own standalone project. This ongoing friendly competition serves as the foundation for our conversation.

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but notice that Mackie has been consistently bringing up the impact of a particular comment he received. With his standalone movie set to hit the screens in approximately six months, he’s making it clear that I, along with everyone else, will undeniably need to watch it.

As a die-hard fan, I’m eagerly anticipating this year’s SDCC! According to my own account, I mentioned to IGN that I fully intend to bring Holland along for the premiere. In fact, I even jokingly proposed that perhaps Zendaya should arrange another companion for the event. When asked by IGN about what I’m most looking forward to in the movie, I replied with genuine excitement: “The sheer thrill of it all!”

I’m looking forward to having Tom Holland attend the film premiere with me. Regardless of what Zendaya has planned, she might want to bring a friend along. However, Tom will be accompanying me instead.

On a previous occasion, Mackie didn’t just suggest, but rather hinted strongly at Holland needing to watch the movie, just like he did with the “Captain America: Brave New World” film a few months prior.

He did that on a very public stage, so I’m going to hold that till the premiere. I’m going to make sure that Marvel makes him come to the premiere, and then I’m going to sit him next to me, and I’m going to watch him watch the movie.

During a chat with DiscussingFilm, Mackie fueled the friendly competition again by telling Holland that he was indeed correct – it’s an entirely unique sensation to star in your very own film.

I needed some time to fully absorb what transpired. You were correct, Tom Holland; there’s something unique about being involved in a film that bears your name.

As usual, fans had plenty to say about it:

“Anthony Mackie acknowledges that he needed some time to fully grasp the magnitude of his role in ‘CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD.’ He agrees with you, Tom Holland, as taking on a leading role in one’s own movie is indeed a unique experience.”

Initially, I genuinely attest that when I saw the tweet, the video wasn’t fully loaded yet. However, something instinctively made me feel it was about this fight 😭😭.

Man, that scene is gold. It ranks among the top 3 Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, and I can’t wait to watch it again soon.

Anthony Mackie’s heartfelt remarks about playing Captain America in “Brave New World” underscore the reality that, even for superheroes, adjusting to increased powers takes time.
