Fans of the 28 Days Later universe have more to look forward to! Following the success of 28 Years Later and positive early reactions to its sequel, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, Sony is already planning a third film. Deadline reports that while the movie doesn’t have a title yet, Cillian Murphy is potentially returning, and Alex Garland will be writing the script.
We know Danny Murphy will be in The Bone Temple, but his exact part is still unknown. A third 28 Years Later film could bring him back as the main character, and perhaps even reunite him with Selena, who we can assume is still alive. A tough survivor like her wouldn’t be easily defeated.
Danny Boyle has talked about potentially directing another 28 Years Later movie, but it’s not official yet. Nia DaCosta, who directed The Bone Temple, is also a possibility. It’s great to see this series making a comeback! We’ll have to wait until January 16, 2026, to see 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple in theaters.
