Anna Delvey Reveals She’s ‘Thrilled’ To Control Her ‘Own Narrative’ As Judge Grants Her Permission To Return To Social Media

As a lifestyle expert with a penchant for delving into the intricacies of human behavior, I find myself both captivated and slightly appalled by the saga of Anna Sorokin, or Anna Delvey as she was famously known. Having followed her dramatic journey from the glamorous New York social circuit to the cold confines of a prison cell, I can’t help but be intrigued by this enigma who seems to defy conventional understanding.

Known for her controversial persona under both names Anna Sorokin and Anna Delvey, this individual made headlines for allegedly swindling banks, hotels, and high-society acquaintances, is once again the subject of news articles. As reported by Page Six, Delvey, who was imprisoned in 2019, has now been given permission to rejoin social media platforms, allowing her to share her thoughts publicly for the first time since her incarceration. Anna Sorokin, posing as a rich German heiress named Anna Delvey during her time in New York City, gained notoriety for swindling banks, companies, and hotels. As reported by People magazine, she was convicted on eight counts in April 2019, among which were attempted “grand larceny” and “theft of services.” The 33-year-old Russian-born imposter was given a prison sentence ranging from four to twelve years and was released from prison in February 2021.

Following my release, I found myself subjected to house arrest by immigration authorities, complete with an ankle monitor for good measure. To add to this digital detox, the judge had also imposed a ban on my use of social media platforms, as reported by Page Six. In court documents filed last year, my legal team argued that these restrictions were not only ineffective in reducing any flight risk or threat to the community but also blatantly infringed upon my constitutional rights.

The article continued by stating that a judge granted Anna permission to rejoin social media platforms. In a subsequent interview, she expressed her gratitude towards the U.S. court system and her lawyers, John Sandweg and Catherine Hunstad, for upholding her freedom of speech rights. Furthermore, she shared that she is excited to regain control over her own social media narrative once more.

Ever since Anna Sorokin was arrested in 2019, her captivating tale has been retold in various forms, one of which is Netflix’s nine-episode series, Inventing Anna, starring Julia Garner as a fictionalized portrayal of her. As reported by People magazine, Sorokin herself has voiced her opinions on the show through an open letter written for Business Insider. She stated that the idea of watching a dramatization of herself in a setting depicting a criminal institution or mental hospital didn’t appeal to her at all.
