Anime Leaks: What All Has Been Targeted By Leakers So Far?

As a seasoned lifestyle expert with decades of experience in the entertainment industry, I’ve seen it all – from blockbuster hits to flops that were never meant to see the light of day. However, this latest string of leaks has taken even me aback. It’s like opening a birthday present on Christmas eve!

It’s typical for rumors about a show’s release date, storyline, and cast to surface, but this week, entire episodes of certain well-known series have been shared illegally online. Notably, Netflix Anime has been significantly impacted, as some highly anticipated titles slated for 2023 were leaked online. These leaks are among the largest in recent memory.

As an over-the-moon fan, I’ve stumbled upon the premature leak of Netflix’s Terminator: Zero! The episodes are circulating, but they’re not exactly crystal clear – there are timestamps and watermarks all over them. I can’t help but wonder if these are the genuine production episodes or just poorly-recorded bootlegs. We’ll just have to be patient and wait for the official series release to find out.

The news about the leaks surfaced on a platform once known as Twitter, with access provided on various public forums such as 5chan and BitTorrent. At first, only the opening and closing themes of the series were exposed, but eventually, entire episodes and in some instances, entire seasons were released prematurely compared to their intended schedule.

The much-anticipated MAPPA remake of Ranma ½ was originally slated to debut at Anime NYC 2024, but unexpectedly, three episodes were prematurely leaked. Initially planned for a global release on October 5th, 2024, the entire series of Ranma ½ has since been illegally disseminated as of August 7, 2024. Additionally, all episodes of another Netflix project, Terminator Zero, have appeared online.

As an over-the-moon fan, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard that “Dandadan” was supposed to debut its first three episodes in September 2024. The anticipation grew even higher knowing it would initially hit the big screen before gracing our screens on Netflix worldwide in October 2024. Alas, my dreams were prematurely fulfilled as the series leaked ahead of schedule! To make matters worse, details about each episode have also surfaced on those pesky torrent sites. Now I’m left here, longing for the official release and hoping to avoid spoilers while I wait!

Re:Zero Season 3 on Crunchyroll encountered the same predicament. A special titled “Gekijō-gata,” spanning 90 minutes, was prematurely released before its October 2024 debut. Additionally, Mononoke the Movie: Phantom in the Rain, alongside the series, has also been illegally distributed following its recent Japanese theater release.

As a passionate fan eagerly awaiting the global distribution of this anticipated movie, I can’t help but express my concerns about potential financial setbacks for the studio due to the lack of an International distribution license. Although Netflix and Crunchyroll have yet to make any formal announcements regarding the situation, numerous creators have voiced their concerns.
