Anime Characters Who’ve Cheated Death Way Too Many Times

I’ve always been fascinated by how anime handles its most beloved characters. It’s funny – even when they should definitely be gone, the grim reaper seems to have a really hard time taking them out! Writers are so clever, constantly coming up with incredible powers or plot twists to bring them back, no matter how badly injured they are. It’s like these characters don’t see death as the end, but more like a temporary setback. Honestly, it’s gotten to the point where I constantly question what it even means to be in danger in their worlds, and if anyone can actually stay dead!

Subaru Natsuki

In ‘Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World,’ the main character has a special power called Return by Death. Whenever he dies, he’s sent back in time to a previous point, forcing him to relive moments and try to change the outcome. This creates a repeating cycle where he suffers painful deaths while dealing with dangerous political situations. What makes it even harder is that he remembers every death and the pain that came with it, even though time resets for everyone else.

Goku

This powerful warrior from ‘Dragon Ball’ doesn’t see death as final – more like a brief pause. He’s used the Dragon Balls to come back to life several times after making heroic sacrifices. His friends and family fully anticipate his return whenever a major threat appears. Even divine beings have stepped in to save him during critical fights, ensuring he can keep battling.

Orochimaru

Orochimaru, a powerful character from ‘Naruto’, spent his life trying to become immortal, even if it meant doing terrible things. He used dangerous and forbidden techniques to move his mind into new bodies, hoping to live forever. Even when defeated and sealed away, he could often return by reforming from traces of his power left on his followers through cursed marks. His strong will to survive allowed him to escape situations that would kill even the most skilled ninja.

Reiner Braun

In ‘Attack on Titan,’ Reiner is an incredibly durable character who repeatedly survives seemingly fatal injuries. Thanks to his Titan powers, he can regenerate and has even managed to live through having his head blown off by transferring his consciousness. He consistently withstands devastating attacks – like thunder spears and brutal beatings from other Titans – that would normally kill anyone. The story frequently puts him in impossible scenarios, yet he somehow manages to survive, even when he doesn’t want to.

Ban

Meliodas, also known as the Sin of Greed from ‘The Seven Deadly Sins,’ achieved true immortality by drinking from the Fountain of Youth. This means he can instantly heal from any injury, no matter how severe – even complete destruction. His enemies might be able to reduce him to nothing but blood, but he’ll immediately reform and continue fighting. This incredible ability allowed him to endure conditions in purgatory that would destroy anyone else, both physically and spiritually.

Joseph Joestar

Joseph Joestar, a character from ‘JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure,’ is known for surviving seemingly impossible situations. He’s lived through multiple plane crashes, escaped an erupting volcano on a makeshift raft after a difficult battle, and even recovered from complete blood loss caused by the vampire Dio, thanks to a blood transfusion and a restart of his heart. Throughout his long and eventful life, Joseph’s unbelievable luck consistently saves him.

Phoenix Ikki

Ikki, the Bronze Saint from ‘Saint Seiya’, is known for his armor, which symbolizes a phoenix – a bird reborn from ashes. This reflects his incredible ability to recover from any defeat, returning stronger each time. Uniquely, his armor can fully restore itself even after being completely destroyed. Ikki’s story embodies the idea of immortality, as he repeatedly overcomes death to defend the goddess Athena.

Frieza

This villain from ‘Dragon Ball’ just won’t stay gone. No matter how many times the Saiyans defeat him, he keeps coming back. He’s survived being split in two and even a planet exploding, once returning as a cyborg. Later, his followers used the Dragon Balls to bring him back to life so he could get revenge on Earth. Amazingly, even after Future Trunks completely destroyed him, he somehow returned to fight in the Tournament of Power.

Brook

In the anime and manga ‘One Piece’, the musician Brook gained the power of the Revive-Revive Fruit, which brought him back to life after he died. For years, his soul wandered until it found his skeleton, allowing him to become a living skeleton. Because he doesn’t have any internal organs, he can survive attacks that would normally be fatal. He can even reattach lost limbs, as long as his bones aren’t completely broken and he has some milk to drink.

Hisoka Morow

The magician from ‘Hunter x Hunter’ cleverly used his Nen powers to resurrect himself after a deadly fight. He pre-programmed his aura to restart his heart and lungs if he died, which happened during his battle with Chrollo Lucilfer. This plan worked perfectly, bringing him back to life just as his body was being prepared for burial. His ability to trick and deceive goes beyond just fighting – he even found a way to outsmart death itself.

I’m really curious – who do you think is the most ridiculously lucky anime character? You know, the one who always somehow survives even when everything is stacked against them? Let me know in the comments who you think has the strongest ‘plot armor’!
