Animania Fest’s Big 5 on M-Net Movies 2

Get ready for a fantastic lineup of animated movies this December! The Animania Festival is coming to M-Net Movies 2 (channel 106), and you can also watch everything on DStv Catch Up.

It’s movie night! Here’s a look at some of the best animated films coming out this month – perfect for enjoying with friends and family.

1. The Wild Robot

Roz, a robot from the future, finds herself stranded on a deserted island after a shipwreck. In this story of technology meeting nature, she unexpectedly becomes a mother figure to a baby gosling, with a little help from a clever fox named Fink. As Roz learns to survive in the wild, she experiences a powerful transformation.

Certain magical movies are beautiful to watch, with every scene looking like a painting. The Wild Robot is one of these – a visually stunning animated sci-fi adventure. While it doesn’t have a lot of dialogue, the movie is both simple and clever, and tells a deeply moving and uplifting story that will truly touch your heart.

2. How to Train Your Dragon

How to Train Your Dragon is an exciting animated adventure about Hiccup, a young Viking who tries to capture a rare Night Fury dragon. He hopes this will impress his father, the village chief, and earn the respect of his community of dragon hunters.

This delightful adventure tells the story of a boy and his dragon companion. With stunning animation and a moving musical score, the film delivers a heartwarming message: that being true to yourself is the key to making a difference in the world.

3. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish

Puss in Boots, once Shrek’s companion, is now a star on his own! In his latest movie, The Last Wish, the famous cat finds himself down to his last life. After losing eight of his nine lives, he embarks on a dangerous journey to the Dark Forest, hoping to find a Wishing Star and save himself from facing his own end.

This exciting sequel boasts stunning animation that’s a huge improvement over the previous films, sending our hero Puss in Boots on a thrilling new adventure. He’s up against a variety of new enemies—and his own stubborn pride—so Puss teams up with Kitty Softpaws once again to outsmart the Wolf and get his nine lives back.

4. How to Train Your Dragon 2

Hiccup and Toothless, now famous heroes, accidentally find a hidden ice cave filled with hundreds of wild dragons and a mysterious Dragon Rider. This incredible discovery is soon endangered by a ruthless conqueror who wants to control the dragons and build an army.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 is just as enchanting as the first film, expanding the story with new lands and fascinating dragon history. The sequel delivers thrilling aerial sequences, stunning animation, and a heartwarming sense of friendship. Jay Baruchel and Gerard Butler reprise their roles as Hiccup and Stoick, and Cate Blanchett and Djimon Hounsou join the already impressive voice cast.

5. Transformers One

I’ve always been a Transformers fan, and it’s incredible how popular the franchise has become, especially thanks to Michael Bay! But this new prequel is something else. It goes way back, to the original Cybertron, and tells the story of how Optimus Prime and Megatron first met. They started as just two robot buddies, working together, but then they uncovered a huge secret. This discovery, and the fact that they could suddenly transform, changed everything. It sadly drove a wedge between them, setting them on a path to become the legendary enemies we all know.

Transformers One is a thrilling and visually stunning animated sci-fi movie that tells the story of a fractured brotherhood. It explores the origins of the Transformers, delving into their planet’s society, government, and past. Beginning as a lighthearted comedy about friendship, the film ultimately becomes a powerful and dramatic tale of loyalty and betrayal.

As a total animation fan, I’m super excited about this month’s Animania Festival! They’re showing a bunch of great stuff – I’m definitely planning to check out Lego Batman, Sing 2, The Bad Guys, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Oh, and all the Kung Fu Panda movies and Troll World Tour are on the list too! If that’s not enough animated goodness for you, M-Net Movies 4 (channel 108) is also hosting the Kids Club Festival, so you can get your fill!
