Nintendo revealed that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be available on the new Nintendo Switch 2 on January 15, 2026. A major update, Version 3.0, will also launch on that same day.
The updated version of the game will cost $64.99 for new players. If you already have the game on Switch, you can upgrade for just $4.99. This new edition supports up to 4K resolution at 30 frames per second, offers improved mouse controls with the Joy-Con 2, utilizes the Switch 2 microphone to find characters within the game, and lets up to twelve players join multiplayer sessions.
Update 3.0 brings fresh content to the game for all players! You’ll find new furniture, clothing, and a resort hotel to customize, which will bring more visitors to your island. We’re also increasing your storage space and making it easier to reset your progress.
Nintendo Switch Online members can now play with friends on up to three islands. The update also lets members enjoy classic Nintendo games within certain titles when they use special items. Plus, there are new LEGO-themed items and special features for The Legend of Zelda and Splatoon Amiibo figures.
