It appears that James Gunn’s actions have stirred up quite a situation within the DC Universe, with Andy Muschietti countering by asserting that his interpretation of Batman stands as the definitive Dark Knight character, distinct from the one portrayed in the Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves universe.
The backstory
Initially, when James Gunn unveiled the DC Universe, it was revealed that Andy Muschietti would be working on a project titled “Brave and the Bold“, which centers around Batman and his son, Damian Wayne.
Then Gunn said the Brave and the Bold script wasn’t ready, insinuating he wasn’t happy with it.
It’s been hinted that there were discussions about Robert Pattinson becoming the DC Universe’s Batman, and in an interview, this was indeed confirmed by Gunn.
After his recent interview, it was revealed that Andy Muschietti has delayed the production of “Brave and the Bold” and is currently engaged in another film project instead.
It’s been confirmed that the release date for Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson’s movie “The Batman: Part II” has been pushed back once more, now scheduled for October 2027, a full year later than initially planned.
It seems likely that the delay in production was due to considering a possible alignment of Reeves’ Batman with Gunn’s DC Universe and David Corenswet’s Superman. If this alignment occurs, it’s expected that the project called Brave and the Bold will not move forward, and Andy Muschietti may no longer be involved as director.
Matt Reeves attended the Golden Globes on Sunday and was questioned about his Batman potentially joining the DCU. While Reeves seems reluctant, he appears open to the possibility. It seems that Reeves might prefer waiting until July to determine if James Gunn’s Superman will be successful before making a decision.
Matt Reeves’ Batman not part of the DCU says Muschietti
Yesterday, Andy Muschietti revealed in an interview that he’s still attached to the project for “Brave and the Bold.” Muschietti explained the reason for the delay of “Brave and the Bold” is to avoid a simultaneous release with Matt Reeves’ upcoming film, “The Batman: Part II.”
Yesterday in an interview, Andy Muschietti confirmed his ongoing work on the movie titled “Brave and the Bold.” He clarified that the postponement of this film is due to a strategic move to prevent it from premiering at the same time as Matt Reeves’ sequel, “The Batman: Part II.
The upcoming DC Universe (DCU) will feature a new Batman character, distinct from Matt Reeves’ version. Despite this, Warner Bros. and DC are moving forward with the sequel of Reeves’ Batman film.
As a movie enthusiast, I must share some news about ‘The Brave and the Bold’, the highly-anticipated sequel to our beloved Batman saga. Unfortunately, like many things in life, it seems patience is required as its release has been pushed back to 2027 or thereabouts. Rest assured, DC is meticulously crafting a strategy to ensure that the two Batman films don’t collide on the silver screen. It would be quite preposterous to unveil two Batman movies simultaneously, wouldn’t it? So, let’s wait and see how this intriguing tale unfolds!
Regarding my role in the film, at present, there is a strong desire on both sides – theirs and mine. I’m being encouraged to participate, and I am eager to be part of the project, aiming to create an excellent movie together.
