Reports are resurfacing that Andy Muschietti may no longer be directing *The Brave and the Bold*, the upcoming Batman movie for James Gunn’s DC Universe.
Rocha and Sneider Double Down
A listener recently asked on the Hot Mic podcast if Andy Muschietti is still set to direct the Batman movie for the DC Universe.
Rocha immediately responded, “I already said he wasn’t involved! Will you please listen?” He continued, “I really don’t think he’ll be able to compete with Matt Reeves’ Batman. It would be much better to include Reeves’ universe in the story – having two different Batmans just won’t work.”
Sneider chuckled and responded, “I have no idea what you mean. John and I definitely haven’t been saying that for the past two years.”
James Gunn Says Muschietti Is Still Attached
Even though there’s been talk online, James Gunn of DC Studios has confirmed that Andy Muschietti is still set to direct *The Brave and the Bold*. Muschietti was recently at the premiere of *Superman* and was also seen with Peter Safran, Gunn’s partner and fellow DC head, at the Emmys. Muschietti is also known for directing HBO’s *IT* and the upcoming *Welcome to Derry* series.
James Gunn has also suggested he’s not satisfied with the current script for *Brave and the Bold*. The movie doesn’t have a release date yet, and hasn’t started pre-production.
DCU Uncertainty Grows
James Gunn’s plans for the DC Universe are now facing new challenges. Warner Bros. Discovery, the company behind the DCU, might be bought by a larger company such as Skydance, Paramount, Netflix, or Apple. This potential sale creates more doubt about whether Gunn’s planned reboot will move forward as expected.
Meanwhile, Muschietti is now working on other films, including *Drift* and a live-action version of *Attack on Titan*. This indicates he’s focusing on projects outside of the DC Universe, meaning *Brave and the Bold* is likely still a long way from being made, if it happens at all.

While director Andy Muschietti is still potentially involved with a Batman movie, the film itself seems uncertain. With no script finalized, no production timeline set, and no release date announced, many are starting to wonder if *The Brave and the Bold* will ever actually be made.
