In a thoughtful display of boyfriend duties, Andrew Garfield reportedly held back from attending events, such as this year’s Met Gala, so he could welcome his girlfriend, Monica Barbaro, when she returned home. While some might consider this the standard expectation, others view it as a heartwarming act; either way, it was certainly a sweet gesture.

On the night of Tuesday, May 6, as I was huddled in the lobby of The Mark Hotel in New York City, I found myself standing alongside an absent blue carpet stroller – none other than Garfield himself. Word has it that he was waiting for Barbaro, who had stepped out to enjoy an after-party and was expected to return later.

In an Instagram video shared by Cosmopolitan, Tom Holland (from Spider-Man: No Way Home) was casually dressed in a t-shirt, a blue and white jacket with buttons, and jeans, and was seen carrying a black tote bag. On the contrary, Monica Barbaro, known for her role in A Complete Unknown, exuded elegance in her stylish attire.

This year’s Met Gala, themed around “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” was Barbaro’s first appearance at the event. She walked the red carpet wearing a Dior outfit that included a white jacket and black skirt, and added a touch of elegance with a hat and black gloves.

At the post-event, the actress donned a Dior black tulle embellished gown from their Fall-Winter 2025 lineup, as reported by People magazine.

Regarding Garfield, it’s been pointed out that he hasn’t graced the Met Gala red carpet since 2019. Given this fact, many fans might find themselves longing for his presence on the Met steps. Still, let’s remain optimistic; maybe he’ll show up at next year’s gala.
