Andrew Garfield Would Definitely Come Back as Spider-Man if Marvel Delivers a Great Story

As a longtime Marvel fan who has witnessed the rise and fall (and rise again) of our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, I can say with certainty that the complexity of Peter Parker’s story is unparalleled. The tangled web of Sony and Marvel Studios’ rights has made for an intriguing saga, culminating in the epic crossover event, “Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The complexity in Spider-Man’s story among all Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) superheroes arises due to the fact that Sony, rather than Marvel Studios, holds the rights to the character. As a result, initially, Spider-Man’s films were only loosely connected to the mainline MCU movies.

After Tom Holland took on the role, Sony and Marvel collaborated to create a total of three movies starring him.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but marvel at the epic culmination of these three movies, specifically Spider-Man: No Way Home. This final chapter brought back not one, but two of my favorite Spideys – Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield! It was mind-blowing to witness all three web-slingers unite in a multiversal tale that also resurrected a host of past Spider-Man villains.

Ever since the massive hit movie, I can’t help but wonder if Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are going to team up for another round. Fans just can’t seem to get enough!

Discussing the topic of Andrew Garfield’s portrayal of Spider-Man, it’s clear that this character is frequently debated among fans due to the perception that Garfield didn’t fully conclude his Spider-Man narrative on screen. Recently, there have been questions about whether he might return for another film. Let’s find out what his response was.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve been pondering about the possibility that the next Spider-Man movie in 2026, set post-Doomsday, might see the return of both Maguire and Garfield for another Marvel adventure. This could be because Doctor Doom, in his usual antics, sends us heroes to Battleworld after Doomsday, a scenario that seems increasingly plausible given the comic book narrative’s trajectory.

As a dedicated gamer, I’m rooting hard for the return of Andrew Garfield’s Spidey in another thrilling ride! Although Marvel hasn’t spilled all the beans yet on how they plan to swing this, I firmly believe that there’s still so much of his story left untold and a multitude of internal battles he needs to conquer.

In this film, where Holland and Garfield take on the roles of two Spider-Men amidst challenging predicaments, it serves as an effective method for portraying their characters. Furthermore, establishing a mentor-apprentice bond similar to that seen in previous Spider-Man films and games could also be an interesting aspect.

Furthermore, it appears that Garfield himself echoes this feeling, as evidenced by his response during a recent interview with Esquire, when asked if he’d want to reprise the role of Spider-Man. Here’s what he had to say:

“It was really healing for me. For sure, I would 100 percent come back if it was the right thing, if it’s additive to the culture, if there’s a great concept or something that hasn’t been done before that’s unique and
odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into. I love that character, and it brings joy. If part of what I bring is joy, then I’m joyful in return.”

Over time, Garfield’s statements have tended to be quite consistent, which means his latest remark isn’t too unexpected. We remain optimistic that this situation will culminate in a desired outcome for all parties, akin to another iconic Garfield and Spider-Man encounter.
