As a lifelong Star Wars enthusiast with countless hours spent in the galaxy far, far away, I must say that the 2025 Star Wars landscape seems a tad sparse compared to the rich abundance we’ve grown accustomed to. But fear not, fellow fans! If there’s only one Star Wars project on Disney’s slate for next year, it better be Andor season two.
Despite numerous Star Wars movies and Disney+ series speculated for future seasons, and continuous rumors about upcoming seasons, only one Star Wars project has been officially scheduled for 2025 – specifically, season two of Andor. Contrasting this, in 2024 we were presented with six different Star Wars television series. Although it’s been suggested that Disney aims to cut back on production, the absence of many series in 2025 feels somewhat sparse considering the numerous releases in recent years.
Without a doubt, if we were to choose one Star Wars project to look forward to next year, it would undeniably be season two of Andor. Although there may only be one Star Wars project on Disney’s 2025 schedule, its impact will rival multiple projects. The first season of Andor was not just one of the best Star Wars series, but one of the greatest seasons of television ever made. Its thought-provoking themes about revolution, freedom, hope, and heroism continue to resonate with viewers.
It’s a safe bet that by 2026, we can expect some exciting Star Wars movie announcements to complement any upcoming television series. With the confirmation of Ahsoka’s second season and continuous rumors about another season of Obi-Wan Kenobi, it seems like one Star Wars movie and one TV series per year is a satisfying balance for fans without overwhelming the IP. However, if only one Star Wars series is produced in a year, as in 2025, we suggest Disney and Lucasfilm focus on high-impact shows like Andor and original stories such as The Acolyte, and perhaps even consider a second season of The Acolyte too.
As a passionate Star Wars gamer, I may be disappointed that the number of new projects is dwindling each year, but I remain hopeful that the essence and spirit of this universe continues to grow. For now, I eagerly anticipate our sole Star Wars release in 2025: the second season of Andor.
