2021’s D23 Expo is generating a lot of excitement with its revealing updates on upcoming films and shows. One of the many highlights includes the reveal of season 2 for Andor, and that wasn’t the only big news – a significant casting announcement was made for Andor, adding yet another intriguing character to the already stellar cast, bolstering the Star Wars saga even more.
On August 9, 2024, Ben Mendelsohn‘s character Orson Krennic made a comeback under the spotlight. Fans of stories set in galaxies far away had seen him before, in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, where he portrayed a villainous role.
At the Disney Entertainment Showcase, it was revealed in full detail that the sequel to the series would span a four-year period, during which Cassian Andor, the main character, transforms into the brave hero who ultimately makes the selfless sacrifice depicted in Rogue One. Diego Luna, the leading actor, shared this information.
At the D23 Expo 2024 on stage, Luna revealed that this time around, Cassian will be gearing up to confront the Empire. Moreover, she hinted that the risks involved in this episode of the series are significantly greater.
Displaying additional material, scenes from Star Wars were presented to the audience, offering glimpses into the world. These snippets hinted at further devastation in the second season of Andor. Additionally, the footage provided a sneak peek at production insights, captured during the filming process for the forthcoming season on Disney+.
The cast was all also seen teasing, “Nobody can escape the crushing power of the empire.”
In terms of Season 2 of Andor, we can expect continuation of the storyline from Season 1 with a focus on the character Cassian Andor, who has escaped from an Imperial detention facility.
In reference to the show, Andor takes place prior to the incidents depicted in the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

As someone who has been an avid fan of Star Wars since I was a child, I must say that I am thrilled to see the Disney+ series exploring the Star Wars saga being recognized by the Primetime Emmys this year. Having grown up watching the original trilogy and later becoming captivated by the prequels, it is heartening to witness the continuation of the story through a new medium that honors the legacy while also expanding upon it in innovative ways.
