In the third installment of Andor Season 2, a joyous wedding scene graces our screens, yet beneath this festive veneer lies a complex tapestry of events unfolding. As a devoted fan, I found myself immersed in the interwoven narratives that were skillfully unraveled in this episode:
1. Cassian’s daring heist of a TIE fighter.
2. Bix seeking refuge on Mina-Rau.
3. The intricate dance between Syril Karn and Dedra Meero within the Imperial Security Bureau (ISB).
4. Mon Mothma presiding over her daughter’s nuptials on Chandrila.
Each of these storylines added depth to the episode, keeping viewers like myself captivated and eager for more.
During the seemingly ordinary celebrations, an understated yet significant event unfolds: The arrival of Mon’s long-time friend, Tay Kolma, takes place. In Andor Season 1, he aided her with money transfers for the Rebellion, but circumstances have evolved since then, as per Inverse.
Tay boasts that her scheme unfolded smoothly, yet hints at personal struggles. His financial ventures have crumbled, his spouse has departed, and he’s shouldering all the risks alone. He doesn’t explicitly accuse Mon of anything, but the subtext is clear: if he isn’t aided, he could potentially incriminate her.
Following her conversation with Tay, Mon Mothma promptly contacts Luthen Rael. She informs him that Tay appears to be under stress and cautions him about potential negotiations. Luthen concurs, but suggests they postpone the matter until after the upcoming wedding. Later, during the event’s conclusion, Tay notices that his regular driver is absent. In his place, Cinta, a Rebel ally, is seated behind the wheel.
In the current scenario, Cinta has been working covertly for Luthen since Season 1, and now she’s on a mission. As Tay enters the vehicle, there’s a brief, tense moment between her and Vel, another Rebel operative and her partner. Vel seems concerned but remains silent. This silent interaction hints at a potentially significant upcoming event.
The situation suggests that Luthen believes Tay poses too great a risk and might have asked Cinta to remove him instead of offering him a payoff. Vel seems privy to this plan, and based on her actions, it appears Mon Mothma may also be in the know. After Tay departs, Mon is shown relaxing with drinks and dance, perhaps as a means to cope with what she has come to understand is unfolding.
The show leaves Tay’s future uncertain, but hints strongly indicate that it may have been an orchestrated attack. For instance, his change of drivers, Cinta’s undertaking, and their frequent furtive looks seem to point towards this possibility.
In the upcoming section of Andor season 2, we leap ahead by a year, meaning the repercussions of this moment won’t be immediately visible. Yet, the potential assassination of Tay Kolma, a powerful banker in Chandrila, could spell trouble. If he vanishes mysteriously, it might pique the interest of the Empire.
Do you think Tay Kolma was killed on Luthen’s orders?
