In the upcoming installment of the John Wick series, Ana de Armas will be the main focus. The much-anticipated spinoff, called Ballerina, recently released its trailer filled with intense action scenes, hinting at a tough confrontation between de Armas’ character and Keanu Reeves’ iconic character, John Wick.
In Ballerina, Ana assumes the role of Eve Macarro, a transformed Russian ballerina who later becomes an assassin, embarking on a ruthless journey seeking vengeance against those responsible for her family’s death. The movie takes place between the incidents of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4, providing more insight into the assassin’s realm by further developing the character previously depicted by Unity Phelan.
In a comeback after a two-year hiatus since the franchise’s most successful installment (earning over $440 million globally), Keanu Reeves once again takes on the character of John Wick. The John Wick series as a whole has now amassed over $1 billion in box office revenue worldwide.
In the continuation of showcasing her prowess as an action star, De Armas excels in the movie “Ballerina,” following impressive performances in “No Time to Die” and “Ghosted.” Notably, she also received an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in “Blonde.” The film is part of the franchise’s expansion, similar to “The Continental,” a prequel miniseries that premiered on Peacock in 2023.
Produced by industry veterans Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, and Chad Stahelski, along with Kaley Smalley Romo serving as an executive producer, Ballerina is a film directed by Len Wiseman (Underworld) and written by Shay Hatten (Army of the Dead).
