I was really sad to hear that Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer are getting divorced. After seven years together, it’s tough news, especially since they share a son, Gene. They announced it on Instagram yesterday, December 12th, and it just feels like another celebrity relationship that couldn’t quite make it work.
Schumer announced that she and her husband are separating, describing the split as friendly and emphasizing their commitment to co-parenting their son. In a message, she said they love each other and asked for privacy. She also directly addressed speculation that her recent weight loss contributed to the divorce, stating that wasn’t the reason and reiterating their continued love and respect for each other as a family.

The actress shared that she was diagnosed with Cushing syndrome in 2024, a serious condition that caused her face to swell. She recently posted a video (which she has since removed) explaining that the illness is now in remission and that her recovery, not how she looks, is what truly matters.
She explained that Chris’s future, whatever it holds, isn’t related to his weight or autism. She’s hopeful things will work out, adding that he’s a wonderful person.
People magazine reports that Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer are separating amicably. A source close to the couple said the split is calm and they are simply finishing up some final details. The couple began dating in 2017, got married in February 2018, and had a son in May 2019.
Many fans and celebrities have been sending Amy Schumer encouraging messages and showing their support. Debra Messing, Jillian Bell, Billie Lee, Carla Johnston, and Margo Price were among those who shared heart emojis to lift her spirits.
