Amazon, a hugely successful company, recently acquired the rights to the James Bond films for just $20 million, which is considered a surprisingly affordable price.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that this figure is lower than the $25 million Daniel Craig made for his last James Bond movie, No Time to Die.
Documents recently filed with U.K. tax authorities by EON Productions – the company led by Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who have overseen the James Bond franchise for decades – have revealed new information.
Documents reveal that the family who owned the rights to James Bond sold them to Amazon in February. This gives Amazon complete creative control over the James Bond franchise. The sale, finalized on February 20, 2025, included all related assets and subsidiary companies, B24 Limited and B25 Limited, for a total of $20 million.
Although the initial payment appears small, insiders say that Broccoli and Wilson are expected to earn significantly more money in the long run.

Plus, there’s potential for bonuses and stock options that could really drive up the price. Apparently, insiders were saying the whole thing could end up being worth around a billion dollars, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Work on the 26th James Bond movie is officially underway at Amazon MGM Studios. Denis Villeneuve, the director of Dune, will be directing, with producers David Heyman and Amy Pascal. The screenplay is being written by Steven Knight, known for Peaky Blinders. The team is looking for a new, relatively unknown British actor in his late 20s or early 30s to take on the role of Bond.
Filming for James Bond 26 is scheduled to begin in 2027, with a planned release in 2028.
This decision represents a significant change for the James Bond films, as one of the world’s leading technology companies will now oversee this iconic series, which has a history stretching back over sixty years.
