Amazon is facing criticism from James Bond enthusiasts once more-this time because they’ve subtly altered the artwork for classic 007 films on Prime Video, specifically by taking out Bond’s firearms.
Posters Sanitized
According to a post from the SpyHards account on X (formerly Twitter), the latest poster art for almost all James Bond movies no longer shows Bond with a gun.
This collection features posters from iconic James Bond films such as Goldfinger, Thunderball, GoldenEye, and Skyfall, to name a few. The firearms shown in the posters have been digitally removed – either with Photoshop or using artificial intelligence.
“It’s a challenge to market James Bond 007 without featuring his gun,” one fan commented.

As a fan, I’ve noticed something odd. It looks like the versions of the movies available on Amazon Prime Video have been changed. These changes seem to only affect the streaming versions – the original theatrical releases and Blu-rays you can buy on Amazon Marketplace are still the same. It’s really strange that the streaming cuts are different from what we’re used to! I’m wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

Fans Cry Foul Over Woke Influence
This change has brought worries from dedicated fans back to the surface, who fear that Amazon owning the Bond series could result in the character being significantly altered to align with “woke” ideologies.
As a longtime Bond fan, it feels like some people are trying to soften the character to fit today’s expectations. Honestly, it seems a little strange to me. Guns have always been a core part of what makes Bond, well, Bond! I mean, even back in 1962 with Dr. No, he was a spy who used firearms – it’s just part of his history!

This comes after an earlier report suggesting Amazon considered the possibility of a female James Bond (007) and building a cinematic universe similar to Marvel, complete with spin-off series.
Although veteran Bond producer Barbara Broccoli is said to have rejected those ideas, it’s uncertain whether she still has the final say-particularly following recent news that Jeff Bezos may have taken away her creative authority.
Recent reports suggest the next James Bond will be a younger British actor. However, this doesn’t rule out the possibility of casting an actor of a different race in the role.

Release info
As a huge film fan, I’m really excited to hear that Amazon is making a James Bond movie! It’s going to be directed by Denis Villeneuve, which is fantastic news – I love his work. The screenplay is being penned by Steven Knight, another incredibly talented writer. And it’s great to see Tanya Lapointe, Villeneuve’s wife and frequent producing partner, on board as an executive producer, alongside the experienced Amy Pascal and David Heyman, who are producing the film.
