Amazing Race’s Shana Wall Files A Lawsuit Claiming To Have Swallowed Plastic Shards From In-Flight Drink

As a devoted fan of Shana Wall, who has always admired her courage and resilience on “The Amazing Race,” I am deeply saddened by this recent turn of events. It’s heartbreaking to see such an accomplished woman, who has traveled the world and graced our screens with her indomitable spirit, face such a harrowing experience.

51-year-old Shana Wall, well-known for her appearance on The Amazing Race, declared that she was served a drink containing small pieces of plastic while flying. Consequently, Wall has decided to file a legal action related to this incident.

According to People magazine, a 51-year-old individual filed a lawsuit against American Airlines in Manhattan Supreme Court on August 19 (Monday). This person was a passenger on a flight departing from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to Rome on May 1.

According to reports from the source, the documents indicate that she was provided with a drink in a glass filled with “crumbled plastic fragments,” which the plaintiff accidentally consumed. This incident led to harm affecting her throat, esophagus, voice box, and digestive tract.

The grievance further asserts that the television personality suffered severe and persistent injuries, which prevented them from working. According to the complaint, Wall’s health deteriorated significantly, causing her to feel unwell, experience pain, and become unable to move freely; she was forced to stay at home and in bed. The complaint also claims that these injuries led to a decrease in the quality of her life, rendering her incapable of performing her job duties, resulting in lost income and financial losses.

On May 1, following her flight, the 51-year-old woman posted photos of her trip to Tuscan vineyards on her social media platforms.

The complaint also mentioned that American Airlines had an obligation to provide food and beverages that were safe and uncontaminated for consumption. The lawsuit alleges that the airline was aware, either directly or indirectly, of the hazardous and unsafe conditions. Currently, the Amazing Race alum is pursuing unspecified damages from the airline, as reported by the publication.

In more recent days, problems associated with airline meals have been on the rise. Most recently, American Airlines faced criticism due to an incident in July, where a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit had to be redirected to JFK Airport because they served spoiled food to their passengers. Meanwhile, Delta Air Lines found itself in the news earlier for similar reasons; a flight traveling from Amsterdam to Detroit was re-routed to JFK due to serving bad food to its passengers.

A family filed a lawsuit against United Airlines last February, claiming their 6-year-old child was burned by overly hot food that slipped from a malfunctioning tray table onto the child’s lap. On the other hand, in 2023, British Airways passengers were served spoiled food due to lack of refrigeration. As a result, meal service on the flight had to be replaced with food from a local KFC outlet, which was brought aboard by the flight staff before boarding.
