Amanda Seyfried has been open about her ongoing journey with mental health, sharing that she’s been taking Lexapro since she was 19. The 40-year-old actress is a strong advocate for reducing the stigma around medication, viewing it as a helpful tool, just like any other medical treatment.

At the premiere of a new short film called Discipline, Seyfried discussed how maintaining her mental health is a consistent part of her daily routine. When asked about her personal life and how medication affects her priorities, she was very honest.

Seyfried jokingly explained that because she’s been on Lexapro for so long, physical intimacy isn’t a top priority for her. She stressed that she’s comfortable with this, and that her mental well-being and being a mother are what matter most to her.

The actress has talked openly about starting medication to help with obsessive-compulsive disorder and intense anxiety, which caused her to worry about her physical health. After more than twenty years, she feels no need to stop taking it, as it’s consistently helped her stay balanced throughout the ups and downs of her successful career. She’s often said she doesn’t see any benefit in stopping something that continues to work well for her.

The film’s premiere, a chic event at Angelika East, celebrated its partnership with Miu Miu, highlighting the ideas of motion and dance. Amanda Seyfried, the film’s star, surprisingly hadn’t seen the finished movie before the premiere.

She shared her appreciation for working with director Josephine Fastvold, explaining that female directors often create a naturally supportive atmosphere on set, which allows Seyfried to fully commit to her role and trust her instincts.

Recently, Amanda Seyfried has been gaining recognition for her work, particularly her performance in The Testament of Ann Lee. She received a Golden Globe nomination and won an Astra Film Award for her portrayal of the Shaker movement’s founder. The role involved physically demanding, ritualistic dances, which she found challenging but fulfilling.
