In an update about the series, the actress portraying Sophie Sheridan shared that although no official announcement has been made yet, talks regarding a potential new episode are underway.
In 2018, Amanda Seyfried, who played in “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again!”, mentioned that original cast members like Christine Baranski, Pierce Brosnan, and Meryl Streep have expressed a desire to return for another film. The first “Mamma Mia!” was an enormous hit in 2008, raking in over $610 million globally, placing it among the year’s most successful films.

She clarified that big productions such as this one are significantly impacted by studio scheduling rather than merely creative concepts. She disclosed that the sequel’s release was postponed due to scheduling clashes with other prominent films, like the much-anticipated Wicked, featuring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
