Amanda Seyfried has expressed her interest in a third “Mamma Mia” film again, and now she’s picturing other well-known blonde actresses being part of it.
I was reading an Entertainment Tonight interview with her from the Governors Awards, and she mentioned she’s really hoping to cast Sydney Sweeney and Sabrina Carpenter in the next movie! Sounds exciting, right?
Amanda Seyfried believes Jennifer Carpenter would be a great addition to the “Mamma Mia” films, and now she’s also hoping to see her “The Housemaid” co-star, Sydney Sweeney, join the cast as well.
When asked about the possibility of a third Mamma Mia! movie, she seemed confident it was going to happen, saying she believes it’s already confirmed.
The recent movie, “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again,” showed us Donna’s past. Amanda Seyfried thinks a future film could focus on her character, Sophie, in the present day, and introduce some new characters as well.
She clarified that while some fans suggested Sabrina Carpenter could play her daughter, she envisions a different family connection. She expressed her enjoyment of playing a mother and would prefer to see Carpenter as Sophie’s child. She suggested Carpenter could play a long-lost cousin, and even mentioned the possibility of Sydney Sweeney joining the project. She’s open to including many actresses who are eager to be involved.
For years, there’s been uncertainty about whether a third movie would happen. Producer Judy Craymer mentioned in June 2020 that a new film was being planned, potentially featuring new music from ABBA’s recent reunion. However, she also noted that the pandemic caused delays. When ABBA released their album “Voyage” in 2021, excitement among fans grew.
Many people doubted a follow-up film would ever be made. In May 2023, Benny Andersson of ABBA expressed skepticism, calling the idea “wishful thinking.” But in October 2023, producer Judy Craymer confidently stated that a third movie “will happen.”
Seyfried is still enthusiastic about the project, and her list of ideal actors is continuing to grow, with many of them being blondes.
